About
Thanks to a small grant from the Dublin City University Business School (DCUBS) and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), a team of researchers from different backgrounds have come together to explore the potential of Virtual Worlds for research and education.
Initially, this project aims to establish a (virtual) research centre on 3D-MUVEs (Multi-User Virtual Environments). More specifically, it seeks to facilitate:
- the formation of a cross-faculty research group on MUVEs,
- the development of a shared research agenda between LInK, CTTS, and CCS,
- the acquisition of MUVE technical skills within DCU,
- the development of a Teaching Centre and a Virtual Research Lab (VRL) on the EduNation III island on Second Life,
- the construction and piloting of research instruments designed to enable the collection of quantitative and qualitative data from interactions observable from scenario constructs in the VRL.
From this site, you will be able to follow our progress and even join some of our activities.
